Create Thanksgiving Meal Bags for Families Transitioning Out Of Homelessness
YOUR ACTIVITY: Create a Thanksgiving meal bag yourself or host a drive, then assemble the meal bags into reusable shopping bags.
YOUR IMPACT:
LA Family Housing supports over 17,000 people a year, and the holidays can be a tough time for those transitioning out of homelessness. Your donation of a Thanksgiving Meal Bag will allow a family to enjoy a delicious holiday meal at home, creating moments of joy and stability during a challenging time. Each bag makes a big difference!
REQUIREMENTS:
Any age may participate.
We are unable to provide the materials for your bags, but there are several ways you can source them:
- Purchasing the items yourself
- Hosting a drive at your workplace, school, or place of worship
- Asking for these items in place of birthday or wedding presents
Once your bags are assembled, a drop-off time must be scheduled between 9 AM and 5 PM, Monday through Friday.
MEAL BAG INSTRUCTIONS:
To ensure a seamless drop-off, please schedule a drop-off time at: LAFH.org/DonateGoods
Drop-offs begin October 15th, 2025.
Please fill a reusable shopping bag (no paper bags) with the following items:
Necessary items:
- $25 gift card to Food4Less or Ralphs
- 1 can of cranberries
- 2 cans of vegetables (e.g. carrots, green beans, etc.)
- 1 can of chicken broth
- 1 can of yams
- 1 box of Jell-O or pudding mix
- 1 box of stuffing
- 1 box of mashed potato buds
- 1 box of corn muffin mix
Prohibited items:
- Perishable items (please include only shelf-stable food)
